A person with a speed of 12 kmph reached the bus station 10 minutes after the scheduled time of a bus in which he is supposed to travel. Next day he travelled with a speed of 15 kmph and reached the bus station 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled time of the bus. The speed with which he has to travel so as to reach the station on the scheduled time of the bus is

If the distance is d km, d/12 − d/15 = 20 min = 1/3 h, so d/60 = 1/3 and d = 20 km. At 12 kmph he takes 100 min, so the scheduled time is 100 − 10 = 90 min = 3/2 h and the required speed is 20 ÷ 3/2 = 40/3 kmph.
