Two trains X and Y are running in opposite direction with same speeds. Both the trains are of equal length and they cross each other in 10 seconds. If the train X doubles its speed and Y triples its speed and travel in the same direction, the time taken to cross each other is (in seconds)

Let each train have length L and speed v; in opposite directions they cover 2L at relative speed 2v, so 2L/2v = 10, i.e. L/v = 10. With speeds 2v and 3v in the same direction the relative speed is only v, so the time = 2L/v = 2 × 10 = 20 seconds.
