Two taps A and B can fill an empty tank in 32 min and 36 min respectively. A and B are partially opened simultaneously such that A allows only 4/5th part of water and B allows only 3/5th part of water. Then the total time required to fill the empty tank (in minutes) is

A's effective rate = (4/5)/32 = 1/40 of the tank per minute and B's = (3/5)/36 = 1/60 of the tank per minute. Together 1/40 + 1/60 = 5/120 = 1/24, so the tank fills in 24 minutes.
