Water is filled in a tank in such a manner that the volume of the part filled doubles after every 3 minutes. If it takes 27 minutes to fill the empty tank then the time (in min) required to fill one-eighth part of the tank is

Since the filled volume doubles every 3 minutes, the tank is 1/2 full at 24 min, 1/4 full at 21 min and 1/8 full at 18 min (three halvings back from 27 min).
