If a discount of 15% is allowed on the marked price of an article, then a customer gets 15 more articles for ₹ 1,700 than the number of articles he gets when the discount is not allowed. Then the marked price of each article (in Rupees) is

With marked price m, ₹1,700 buys 1700/m articles without discount and 1700/(0.85m) = 2000/m with discount. So 2000/m − 1700/m = 300/m = 15, giving m = ₹20.
ప్రకటిత ధర m అయితే, తగ్గింపు లేకుండా ₹1,700 కు 1700/m వస్తువులు, తగ్గింపుతో 1700/(0.85m) = 2000/m వస్తువులు వస్తాయి. కాబట్టి 2000/m − 1700/m = 300/m = 15, దీని నుండి m = ₹20.
