Question 66 of the TSLPRB SI Final Written Examination 2023, Paper III (Arithmetic & Reasoning) (8 April 2023). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
A shopkeeper marks the price of an article in such a way that after giving two successive discounts of 10% each he gets a profit of 10%. If the cost price of that article is ₹ 16,200 then the marked price (in Rupees) is
- 19,200
- 21,562.20
- 22,000
- 22,124.60
- 19,200
- 21,562.20
- 22,000
- 22,124.60

Answer: (3) 22,000
Selling price = 1.1 × 16,200 = ₹ 17,820. Two successive 10% discounts leave 0.9 × 0.9 = 0.81 of the marked price, so marked price = 17,820/0.81 = ₹ 22,000.
