Certain amount was invested for 7 years in Bank A which has offered simple interest at the rate of 7% per annum. After 7 years, the total amount received from Bank A was reinvested for 2 years in Bank B which has offered an interest at the rate of 8% per annum compounded annually. If the interest received from Bank B was ₹ 15,496, then the sum invested initially (in rupees) was

Compound interest for 2 years at 8% is 1.08² − 1 = 0.1664 of the amount reinvested, so that amount = 15,496/0.1664 = ₹ 93,125. Bank A's simple interest for 7 years at 7% makes the sum 1.49 times, so the initial sum = 93,125/1.49 = ₹ 62,500.
8% చొప్పున 2 సంవత్సరాలకు చక్రవడ్డీ, తిరిగి పెట్టుబడిగా పెట్టిన సొమ్ములో 1.08² − 1 = 0.1664 వంతు, కాబట్టి ఆ సొమ్ము = 15,496/0.1664 = ₹ 93,125. బ్యాంక్ A లో 7% చొప్పున 7 సంవత్సరాలకు బారువడ్డీతో సొమ్ము 1.49 రెట్లు అవుతుంది, కాబట్టి ప్రారంభంలో పెట్టుబడిగా పెట్టిన సొమ్ము = 93,125/1.49 = ₹ 62,500.
