A can complete a work in 10 days. B can complete the same work in 15 days and C can complete the same work in 20 days. They have completed the work along with a fourth person D in 4 days and were paid ₹ 30,000 for the whole work. The share of D (in rupees) is

In 4 days A, B and C do 4 × (1/10 + 1/15 + 1/20) = 4 × 13/60 = 52/60 of the work, so D does 8/60 = 2/15 of it. Pay is in proportion to work done, so D gets 30,000 × 2/15 = ₹ 4,000.
