A and B can do a work independently in 10 days and 15 days respectively. They worked together for 3 days and after that B is replaced with C. The work is finished by A and C in further 4 days. The sum of the daily wages of A, B, C is ₹ 460. If they are paid their daily wages proportional to their individual work, the total amount received by A in completing the work is (in rupees)

In 3 days A and B finish 3 × (1/10 + 1/15) = 1/2; in the next 4 days A does 4/10, so C does 1/2 − 2/5 = 1/10 in 4 days, i.e. 1/40 per day. Daily wages are in the ratio 1/10 : 1/15 : 1/40 = 12 : 8 : 3, so A gets 460 × 12/23 = ₹ 240 a day, and for 7 days ₹ 1,680.
