P started from his home to meet his friend Q who is at a distance of 15 m towards West from him. But he reached Q via meeting his friends S, T, R at their houses. S is 5 m towards North from P. T is 3 meters West from S, R is 5 meters South from T. From T if P reaches Q without visiting R, the distance he saves is

With P at (0, 0): Q = (−15, 0), S = (0, 5), T = (−3, 5) and R = (−3, 0). Going T → R → Q is 5 + 12 = 17 m, while going straight from T to Q is √(12² + 5²) = 13 m, so he saves 17 − 13 = 4 m.
