Sandeep invested a certain amount in Reliance Infra Private Limited which offers compound interest (compounded annually) at 5% p.a. and an amount equal to 50% of that amount was invested in Reliance Jio, which offers compound interest (compounded annually) at 10% p.a. The duration of investment for both the companies was 2 years. If the difference between the amount received from both the companies is ₹ 6,965, what is the difference between the sums invested in the two companies ?

Let P be invested at 5% and P/2 at 10%. The amounts are 1.1025P and 0.5P × 1.21 = 0.605P, and their difference is 0.4975P = 6,965, so P = ₹14,000. The sums are ₹14,000 and ₹7,000, and their difference is ₹7,000.
