An electrical lineman has to climb on a pole of height 50 meters to fix the wires. In the first one minute he climbed up 5 meters, in the next one minute he slipped down by 2 meters. Further, he repeated the same process till he reached the top of the pole. Then at what height was he at the 24th minute and how many times did he have to go upwards to reach the top of the pole ?

Every 2 minutes he gains 5 - 2 = 3 m, so after 24 minutes (12 cycles) he is at 36 m. After 15 cycles he is at 45 m, and his 16th climb of 5 m takes him to 50 m, so he goes up 16 times.
