   A beats B by 15 seconds in a 200 m race, B beats C by 25 seconds in a 500 m race, C beats D by 32 seconds in an 800 m race and D beats E by 35 seconds in a 1 km race. What must be the speed of A in order to beat E by 800 m in a 2 km race ?

   Answer: 3·33 m/s

   సమాధానం: 3·33 మీ/సె

   Time gaps grow in proportion to distance, so over 2 km A leads E by 150 + 100 + 80 + 70 = 400 s. Beating E by 800 m means E needs these 400 s to cover 800 m, so E runs 2 m/s and takes 1000 s for 2 km; A takes 600 s, i.e. 2000/600 = 3·33 m/s.
