  1. CAPF 2026 · P-I · Q69 · General Mental Ability · Numbers & Series

    Suppose 1 ≤ x, y, z ≤ 9 are integers such that x > z. Let α and β be the three-digit numbers given by α = xyz and β = zyx so that x, y, z are the digits as they are shown. Set γ = α - β. How many of the following statements are always true? I. 2 does not divide γ. II. 3 divides γ. III. 5 does not divide γ. IV. 7 does not divide γ. V. 11 divides γ. VI. 13 does not divide γ. Select the correct answer.

    मान लीजिए 1 ≤ x, y, z ≤ 9 ऐसे पूर्णांक हैं कि x > z है। मान लीजिए α और β तीन-अंकीय संख्याएँ हैं जिनमें α = xyz और β = zyx दिए गए हैं। x, y, z ऐसे अंक हैं, जैसा कि उन्हें दर्शाया गया है। γ = α - β सेट कीजिए। निम्नलिखित में से कितने कथन सदैव सत्य हैं? I. 2, γ को विभाजित नहीं करता है। II. 3, γ को विभाजित करता है। III. 5, γ को विभाजित नहीं करता है। IV. 7, γ को विभाजित नहीं करता है। V. 11, γ को विभाजित करता है। VI. 13, γ को विभाजित नहीं करता है। सही उत्तर चुनिए।

    Answer: (1) 3

    उत्तर: (1) 3

    γ = (100x + 10y + z) - (100z + 10y + x) = 99(x - z) with 1 ≤ x - z ≤ 8. As 99 = 9 × 11, 3 and 11 always divide γ and 13 never does, but x - z = 2, 5 or 7 makes γ divisible by 2, 5 or 7; so only II, V and VI are always true, i.e. 3 statements.
