Around June 21 the Sun is overhead at the Tropic of Cancer, giving the northern hemisphere its summer solstice (longest day), and around December 21 it is overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn, giving the southern hemisphere its summer solstice. Because one hemisphere's summer solstice is the other's winter solstice, (a) and (b) are wrong and (d) reverses the dates.
