'Futura' was announced as the Milano Cortina 2026 emblem in March 2021 after an online public poll in which it beat the rival design 'Dado' with about 75% of roughly 870,000 votes. This was the first time in Olympic history that a Games emblem was chosen by public vote, so both statements are correct.
