Which one of the following statement with reference to hailstones is NOT correct?

Hail comes from strong convective thunderstorms in tall cumulonimbus clouds, and in India hailstorms are mostly a pre-monsoon and winter-spring phenomenon, not a feature of the monsoon season, so (a) is the incorrect statement. Hailstones grow as they are carried up and down in the cloud, which gives them concentric layers of ice, and (c) follows the NCERT description of raindrops freezing as they fall through a colder layer.
