   उत्तर: (1) उच्च मध्य अक्षांशों में स्थित क्षेत्र

   Podzolization occurs in the cool, humid high middle latitudes under coniferous (taiga) forests, where acidic litter and heavy leaching remove iron, aluminium and humus from the upper soil, leaving a bleached ash-grey layer. Hot humid regions undergo laterization, and arid regions calcification or salinization.
