El Nino, the periodic warming of the eastern equatorial Pacific, is coupled with the Southern Oscillation, the see-saw of air pressure between the eastern and western Pacific, so the combined phenomenon is called ENSO (El Nino-Southern Oscillation). Hail, tornadoes and jet streams are unrelated weather features.
