Satellite images reported in January 2023 showed China building a dam on the Mabja Zangbo river in Burang county of Tibet, about 16 km north of the India-Nepal-China trijunction and opposite the Kalapani area of Uttarakhand. The river flows on into Nepal and its waters ultimately reach the Ganga.
