   The Centre constituted the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal under the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act, 1956 in April 1969, with Justice R.S. Bachawat as chairman (he also headed the Krishna tribunal set up the same month). It gave its final award in 1980.

   అంతర్రాష్ట్ర నదీ జల వివాదాల చట్టం, 1956 కింద కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఏప్రిల్ 1969లో జస్టిస్ ఆర్.ఎస్. బచావత్ అధ్యక్షుడిగా గోదావరి జల వివాదాల ట్రిబ్యునల్‌ను ఏర్పాటు చేసింది (అదే నెలలో ఏర్పాటైన కృష్ణా ట్రిబ్యునల్‌కు కూడా ఆయనే నేతృత్వం వహించారు). ఈ ట్రిబ్యునల్ 1980లో తన తుది తీర్పు (అవార్డు) ఇచ్చింది.
