A Self Help Group is a small group of poor people, mostly women, who save regularly and lend to members, and through the NABARD-led SHG-Bank Linkage Programme get small bank loans, so its core purpose is micro-finance. Farm technology, seeds and education are not its primary aim (the Telugu version of this question prints "co-operative societies" in place of SHGs, but the key is the same).
