Mixed cropping is growing two or more crops together in the same field at the same time (for example wheat with gram or mustard), which reduces the risk of total crop failure. Crop rotation grows different crops one after another in succession, mixed farming combines crops with livestock rearing, and shifting cultivation (podu) is slash-and-burn farming.
