Reh, kallar and usar are names for the saline and alkaline patches that form in the alluvial soils of the drier parts of the northern plains (Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab), where poor drainage and over-irrigation bring salts to the surface. They are therefore treated as a part of the alluvial soils, not of the black, red or desert soils.
