A person invests 1/6th of his total capital at 12% per annum, 1/4th at 10% per annum and the remaining part at 8% per annum. If his total annual interest from all these investments is ₹ 33,000, then the amount invested at 8% per annum (in rupees) is

The remaining part is 1 − 1/6 − 1/4 = 7/12 of the capital C. Interest = C(1/6 × 12% + 1/4 × 10% + 7/12 × 8%) = C(2 + 2.5 + 14/3)% = 11C/120 = 33,000, so C = ₹ 3,60,000 and the amount at 8% is 7/12 × 3,60,000 = ₹ 2,10,000.
