An ordinary year has 365 days = 52 weeks + 1 day, so 31st December is 364 days (exactly 52 weeks) after 1st January and falls on the same weekday; (A) is true. A leap year (366 days) does have 2 odd days, so (R) is true, but it is about leap years and does not explain (A).
