An examination is conducted in a class and ranks are allotted to the students according to their marks obtained in the examination. It is observed that the rank of a student A is 20th from the top and 23rd from the bottom. The rank of another student B among the passed students is 10th from the top and 19th from the bottom. Then the total number of students who passed in the examination is
- equal to the total number of students who failed in the examination
- thrice the total number of students who failed in the examination
- half times the total number of students who failed in the examination
- twice the total number of students who failed in the examination

సమాధానం: (4) ఆ పరీక్షలో తప్పిన మొత్తం విద్యార్థుల సంఖ్యకు రెండు రెట్లు
The class has 20 + 23 − 1 = 42 students and the passed students number 10 + 19 − 1 = 28, so 42 − 28 = 14 failed. Since 28 = 2 × 14, the number who passed is twice the number who failed.
తరగతిలో విద్యార్థులు 20 + 23 − 1 = 42 మంది, ఉత్తీర్ణులైన విద్యార్థులు 10 + 19 − 1 = 28 మంది, కాబట్టి 42 − 28 = 14 మంది తప్పారు. 28 = 2 × 14 కాబట్టి ఉత్తీర్ణులైనవారి సంఖ్య తప్పినవారి సంఖ్యకు రెండు రెట్లు.
