   The cost price of an article B is 25% more than that of an article A. Articles A and B are marked up by 30% and 20% respectively. Article A is sold at a discount of 10% and article B is sold at a discount of 5%. If the selling price of article A is ₹ 51 less than the selling price of article B, then the cost price of article B is

   Answer: (2) ₹250

   Let the CP of A be x, so the CP of B is 1.25x; SP of A = 1.3x × 0.9 = 1.17x and SP of B = 1.25x × 1.2 × 0.95 = 1.425x. Then 0.255x = 51, so x = 200 and the CP of B = 1.25 × 200 = ₹250. Option (1), ₹200, is the CP of A.
