Question 29 of the TSLPRB SI Preliminary Written Test 2022 (7 August 2022). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
Pipe A can fill a tank in 30 minutes and Pipe B can fill it in 45 minutes. But third Pipe C can empty a full tank in 15 minutes. A and B are kept open for 15 minutes in the beginning and then C is also opened. Since then the time required (in minutes) to empty the tank is

ఒక ట్యాంకును A అనే పైపు 30 నిమిషాలలోనూ, B అనే పైపు 45 నిమిషాలలోనూ నింపగలవు. కానీ మూడవ పైపు C నిండు ట్యాంకును 15 నిమిషాలలో ఖాళీ చేయగలదు. మొదట 15 నిమిషాల వరకు A, B లను తెరచి ఉంచారు. తరువాత C ని కూడా తెరిచారు. అప్పటి నుండి ట్యాంకు ఖాళీ కావడానికి కావలసిన సమయం (నిమిషాలలో).

In 15 minutes A and B fill 15 × (1/30 + 1/45) = 15 × 5/90 = 5/6 of the tank. With all three open the net rate is 1/30 + 1/45 - 1/15 = -1/90 per minute, so emptying 5/6 of the tank takes (5/6) × 90 = 75 minutes.
