Question 15 of the TSLPRB SI Preliminary Written Test 2022 (7 August 2022). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
A alone can do a piece of work in 10 days and B alone can do the same work in 15 days. A and B agreed to complete the work for ₹30,000. With the help of C, they completed the work in 5 days. Then the amount to be paid to C is
- 1/3 of the amount to be paid to B.
- Equal to the amount to be paid to B.
- 1/2 of the amount to be paid to A.
- 1/3 of the amount to be paid to A.

సమాధానం: (4) A కి చెల్లించే మొత్తంలో 1/3 వ వంతు.
In 5 days A does 5/10 = 1/2 and B does 5/15 = 1/3 of the work, so C does 1 - 1/2 - 1/3 = 1/6. Payment is in the ratio of work done, 1/2 : 1/3 : 1/6 = 3 : 2 : 1 (₹15,000, ₹10,000, ₹5,000), so C gets 1/3 of A's amount; C gets 1/2, not 1/3, of B's amount.
