   14 men can do a work in 18 days. 15 women can do the same work in 24 days. If 14 men work for first 3 days and 10 women work after that for 3 days, then the ratio of the time taken by 7 men alone and the time taken by 5 women alone to complete the remaining work is

   The work = 14 × 18 = 252 man-days = 15 × 24 = 360 woman-days. In 3 days 14 men do 42/252 = 1/6 and then 10 women do 30/360 = 1/12, leaving 3/4. 7 men need (3/4 × 252)/7 = 27 days and 5 women need (3/4 × 360)/5 = 54 days, so the ratio is 27 : 54 = 1 : 2.
