Alauddin Khilji kept a large permanent standing army paid in cash, recruited directly through the Ariz-i-Mamalik, introduced dagh and chehra to stop fraud, and garrisoned the north-west frontier against the Mongols. His Deccan campaigns under Malik Kafur were fought with this regular army; no separate army was created for southern expansion, so (4) is the incorrect statement.
