What happens to the chemical constituents in leaves before leaf falls ?

Before leaf fall, mobile elements such as phosphorus, sulphur, nitrogen and potassium are withdrawn from the old leaves and sent to younger, growing parts. Calcium is a structural element (cell wall, middle lamella) and is not remobilised, and sulphur is not "always" carried in organic form, so (1) and (2) are wrong.
