A and B enter into a partnership by investing Rs. 24,000 each. But B has borrowed his investment amount from A at the rate of 10% per annum. To look after the business, B will be paid Rs. 120 per month as salary. At the end of the year, if B's income is half of the income of A, then the total profit is

B's salary is 120 × 12 = 1,440, the rest of the profit P is shared equally (x = (P − 1,440)/2 each), and B pays A interest of 10% of 24,000 = 2,400. B's income 1,440 + x − 2,400 is half of A's income x + 2,400, so 2x − 1,920 = x + 2,400, x = 4,320 and P = 8,640 + 1,440 = 10,080.
