TGPSC HMWSSB Manager 2015 Paper 2 · Question 41
Question 41 of the TSPSC Manager (Engineering), HMWSSB, 2015: Paper 2 (Civil Engineering) (1 November 2015). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
The observations of a Standard Penetration Test are reported as 10/15/20. Assuming correction for overburden is not required and correction for dilatancy only is required, the corrected N-value is:
- 45
- 35
- 25
- 15
Show answer
Answer: (3) 25
The first 150 mm is the seating drive and is ignored, so observed N = 15 + 20 = 35. Since N > 15, the dilatancy correction gives N' = 15 + (N − 15)/2 = 15 + (35 − 15)/2 = 25.
