TGPSC HMWSSB Manager 2015 Paper 2 · Question 33
Question 33 of the TSPSC Manager (Engineering), HMWSSB, 2015: Paper 2 (Civil Engineering) (1 November 2015). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
The coefficient of permeability of a soil sample having its void ratio as 0.50 and co-efficient of percolation as 3.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s is:
- 3.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s
- 1.50 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s
- 6.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s
- 1.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s
Show answer
Answer: (4) 1.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s
Coefficient of percolation k_p = k/n, where porosity n = e/(1 + e) = 0.50/1.50 = 1/3. So k = k_p × n = 3.00 × 10⁻⁴ × 1/3 = 1.00 × 10⁻⁴ cm/s.
