TGPSC HMWSSB Manager 2015 Paper 2 · Question 12
Question 12 of the TSPSC Manager (Engineering), HMWSSB, 2015: Paper 2 (Civil Engineering) (1 November 2015). Try it first, then open the answer and explanation.
For the calculation of stopping distance, the longitudinal friction co-efficient values of ______ have been recommended by Indian Roads Congress.
- 0.35 to 0.40
- 0.15 to 0.20
- 0.40 to 0.45
- 0.45 to 0.50
Show answer
Answer: (1) 0.35 to 0.40
IRC recommends a longitudinal friction coefficient ranging from 0.40 at low speeds down to 0.35 at high speeds for calculating braking distance in SSD. Values of 0.15 to 0.20 are of the order used for lateral friction on curves, not braking.
