In 2009, 59 women (about 11%) were elected to the 15th Lok Sabha, and in 2019, 78 (about 14%) to the 17th, a record at the time. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam received assent on 28 September 2023. Only about 8% of AP MLAs elected in 2019 were women.
