The ratio of jobs done by 30 girls to the job done by 25 boys, in the same time period is 5 : 6. If 9 girls and 10 boys can finish a job in 40/13 days, then how many girls are required to complete the job in 6 days ?

30 girls : 25 boys = 5 : 6 means one girl : one boy = 25 : 36, so 10 boys equal 14·4 girls and 9 girls + 10 boys = 23·4 girls. The job is 23·4 × 40/13 = 72 girl-days, so 72 ÷ 6 = 12 girls are needed.
