A shopkeeper has three cloth pieces of lengths 7 m, 3 m 85 cm and 12 m 95 cm respectively. He measures each of the three cloth pieces with a rod at his disposal and finds that the length of each cloth piece is an integral multiple of the length of the rod. What can be the maximum length of the rod ?

The rod length is the HCF of 700 cm, 385 cm and 1295 cm. 700 = 2² × 5² × 7, 385 = 5 × 7 × 11 and 1295 = 5 × 7 × 37, so the HCF is 5 × 7 = 35 cm.
