All three are correct: at Zawar (near Udaipur, Rajasthan) zinc occurs mixed with lead, copper and silver ores, and by about the 14th century it was being isolated there by distillation in retorts, one of the earliest such processes in the world. Abul Fazl, in the Ain-i-Akbari, treats zinc as a newly discovered metal that the ancients did not know.
