Dardic (Dardi) languages such as Kashmiri and Shina belong to the Indo-European family, not the Sino-Tibetan family. The 1961 census did record 1652 mother tongues, Kachchi and Sindhi are Indo-Aryan (Indo-European) languages, and Austric (Munda) languages such as Santali and Mundari are spoken by tribes of Jharkhand.
