   A shopkeeper is selling his goods at 40% discount, but is still able to make 20% profit on the list price. By what percentage does he mark up his goods ?

   Answer: 100%

   సమాధానం: 100%

   Taking the 20% profit on cost: cost = 100 gives selling price 120. After a 40% discount the selling price is 60% of the marked price, so marked price = 120/0·6 = 200, a 100% mark-up over cost.
