GST is an indirect tax, so it has nothing to do with direct tax laws and I is wrong. It was introduced as the Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014 and enacted as the 101st Amendment Act, 2016. It is levied where goods or services are consumed, which makes it a destination-based tax.
